Our School

Libertyville Montessori School is a “Little Red Schoolhouse” situated on a lovely wooded, private, and secure, two-acre setting.  We offer unique, octagonal shaped classrooms, which house our pre-primary, primary, and elementary children.  Libertyville Montessori School provides a unique educational environment by merging the Montessori principles with other traditional educational philosophies.  The key features of the Libertyville Montessori classroom include: trained Montessori Directresses, multi-age classes, beautiful Montessori materials, prepared child-centered classrooms, and a homey, encouraging environment that encourages self-confidence and a strong desire to learn.  We have a large playground located at the rear of our property, which is entirely fenced in and maintains the natural setting of the wooded property. The children enjoy their time outside in a natural park-like setting, complete with picnic tables, swings, slides, climbers, and a hand-made wooden train.

The teachers and staff at LMS are dedicated to the Montessori education.  All classrooms are equipped with Montessori materials, which make it possible for hands on learning.  The children are free to walk about the child-centered, prepared classroom and chose presented work.  Through the work, children develop order, concentration, discipline, independence, and self-confidence, as well as a love of learning.  LMS parental involvement, as well as communication are encouraged.  Parents are encouraged to observe the classroom, attend parent/child night, participate in “Student of the Week”, volunteer and help with parties, attend parent/teacher conferences, attend concerts, and participate in the year end picnic/party.  Extracurricular activities added, in addition to our Montessori curriculum consist of: gym, art, music/concerts, and monthly visits from the Bookmobile.
